At Exact Labour Hire, we take pride not only in the work our teams do here in Australia, but also in the incredible journeys our workers go on once they return home. Today, we’re excited to share the story of Roger, who worked with us for two years in a maintenance role.
Building a Strong Foundation Through Hard Work
From his first day on site, Roger approached his role with focus and determination. Maintenance work often requires a mix of skill, problem-solving, and persistence, and Roger consistently delivered on all three. His dedication made him a valued member of his team, and he quickly earned the respect of both his colleagues and his hosts.
Espen, his manager during those two years, reflected on Roger’s time with the team:
“Roger brought positivity and effort to every shift. He was always open to new ideas, quick to pick up new skills, and committed to working as part of a team. His willingness to learn and contribute made a big difference on site, and it was a pleasure to watch him grow into his role.”
Returning Home for Life’s Next Chapter
After two years, Roger achieved what he set out to do. He returned home to Vanuatu, where he married his wife, Anita. Their wedding was a celebration not just of their love, but also of Roger’s hard work and the opportunities created through the PALM Scheme.

Rebuilding After the Cyclone
Roger’s story doesn’t end with personal success. When a devastating cyclone hit his community, he chose to use his savings to make a difference. He helped rebuild and improve the local church, a place central to community life, creating a stronger and more welcoming space for worship, gatherings, and celebrations.

Building a Home and a Future
Alongside these efforts, Roger also used his savings to build a new home for his wife and their future family. After the destruction of the cyclone, having a safe and secure house was especially meaningful. For Roger, it represents not only stability and pride, but also resilience and hope for the future.

A Story Worth Celebrating
We are proud to have been part of Roger’s journey. His story is a reminder of why programs like the PALM Scheme matter: they don’t just support Australian businesses, they change lives. Through his efforts, Roger has built not only a home but also stronger foundations for his community.

Congratulations Roger and Anita—we wish you every happiness in your future together.
